Are you looking for knitting classes near you? We offer classes for beginners and knitters at all levels. Our knitting instructors are knowledgeable, patient, and fun! Join us in class.

BEGINNING KNITTING

   ( 

Learn the basics of knitting in two beginning knitting classes. Just the Basics requires no prior knitting experience. In this class, you will learn the cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch and bind off creating a simple dishcloth. Beyond the Basics teaches an introduction to gauge, knitting in the round, the increase stitch, decrease stitch, and simple finishing techniques. You will complete a hat with an adorable pompom.

Just the Basics

Supplies: One skein solid cotton yarn, US 7 straight needles
Cost: $40 plus materials

Beyond the Basics
Two 2-hour classes with Kelly V.
Supplies: 400 yards worsted weight yarn, US 5 and 7 16-in circular needles, US 7 DPNs, Stitch markers
Cost: $40 plus materials

February 13 & 20 (2024): 1-3 pm

Beginning socks


Learn to knit your first pair of socks one at a time from the cuff down on double pointed needles. You do need to have knitting experience (cast on, knit, purl, decreases) to take this class. Please read through the pattern prior to class and know what size sock you are going to make.

Supplies: One skein light colored sock yarn, US 1-2 wooden DPNs

MAGIC LOOP TOE-UP SOCKS

Learn to make both socks at the same time using the magic loop method. When you bind off you have a finished pair of socks so there is no “second sock syndrome”. You need to have prior sock knitting experience to take this class.

MY FIRST SWEATER

My First sweater class in newburgh, indiana

This is a great class for those of you who want to make a sweater and just haven’t jumped in yet or perhaps you’ve made one and you want to make another and customize it with stripes!

INTERMEDIATE SWEATER

This is a great class for those of you who want to build on your sweater-making skills.

SHORT ROWS

Learn how to incorporate short rows into your knitting projects. In this class you will learn several ways of working short rows and will be amazed at the ways you can use them to make your projects look and fit better.

FIXING MISTAKES

Learn how to fix a dropped stitch in garter stitch and in stockinette stitch and how to correct mistakes at the beginning and end of rows. You will also learn how to fix missed yarnovers and decreases. Basic knitting (cast on, knit, purl) experience is required.

FEARLESS FINISHING

Learn the various methods of seaming, kitchener stitch, picking up stitches and weaving in ends. Basic knitting (cast on, knit, purl) experience is required.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Classes fill up quickly so reserve your spot early. Please make sure you can attend all the scheduled classes. Make-up classes are at the discretion of the instructor. Class fees are nonrefundable. Sheepskeins Yarn Shop reserves the right to cancel the class if less than 3 people sign up – students can sign up for later classes.

All supplies must be purchased prior to class to ensure no class time is used for this purpose. Please be sure to bring all notions you will need as well as a pen/pencil for note taking to class. All project yarn must be purchased from Sheepskeins Yarn Shop.
